More than 500 kids receive back-to-school support
Our amazing supporters helped us exceed our goal and provide kids with the back-to-school necessities
More...We are excited to announce HeartShapedHands was able to provide more than 500 school-going children in Sierra Leone with the necessary materials as they returned to school. In total, we raised more than $6,000, surpassing our original goal of $5,000. The additional funds helped us support 100 more kids!
Students at Education for All Primary School, MaraNatha Primary School, Children in Crisis Primary School, Logus Academy Primary School, Gensis International Junior Secondary School, MacDonald Community Junior Secondary School, Huntingdon Junior & Secondary School, and Liverpool Islamic Community Secondary School, all located around the capital Freetown received these back-to-school packs, which included:
Not only is that more kids that together we helped, but also more support for local Sierra Leone businesses that provided the materials. And during the uncertainty of this global pandemic, that economic support essential.
Also, our friends at Schools for Salone graciously donated 100 menstruation kits to add to our back-to-school packs. These reusable kits include washable menstruation pads that are made in Sierra Leone through the Uman Talk Project - a partnership that empowers women by helping them create small business through the sale of these kits. The project helps make menstrual hygiene management and education available to women and girls in Sierra Leone.
We appreciate your generosity and support for this campaign! We look forward to more projects as together we effect positive change in the lives of many more children.
Thank you and God Bless.
